The city is also called "the pearl of the desert" or the "pearl of the desert". It is located in the district of Nalut, Tripolitania, Libya southwest.

The city population at about 10,000 head. The houses in this place has a distinctive vertical architecture - the ground floor used to store supplies, then another floor for the family, and on, over the open terrace reserved for women.

What is the purpose of an open terrace dial-connect at the top? This is where the women move freely, communicating with friends and neighbors, can even move the 'roof' of the city. The top is sealed from the bottom. That is, the man is on the bottom and could not see the woman. Sidewalk roof allows women to move freely, hidden from the view of men.
