Komodo Island History

In 1910 the Dutch named the island on the south side of East Nusa Tenggara is the nickname of Komodo Island . This story begins with Lieutenant Steyn van Hens Broek who tries to prove statements about the presence of Dutch troops large animal resembling a dragon on the island . Steyn then kill the Komodo dragon and bring documentation to the Museum and Botanical Garden in Bogor to be investigated .

HISTORY " KOMODO "

Komodo is the world's largest land reptile . These animals including endangered animals because these animals are endemic . Endemic means , these animals live only in certain areas . Komodo just live on an island called Komodo Island , Indonesia . Komodo including types of carnivorous animals , this animal has a tongue that is slightly elongated shape and forked at the tip of the tongue like a snake . Research shows that the tip of the forked tongue which serves to "taste " food . These animals usually make their nests underground .

Komodo is an animal that is very unique because it has two ways to reproduce . First , by way of fertilization ( conception ) between a male and female dragons . This way is the way of sexual reproduction . The second way is through " parthenogenesis " . This method makes a Komodo dragon female becomes pregnant without going through the process of fertilization . However , " parthenogenesis " lead all the eggs are born through " parthenogenesis " is always going to be dragons male sex . " Parthenogenesis " is thought to function to prevent the extinction of the dragons .

Many people say , dragons are close relatives of dinosaurs . It is seen from the discovery of fossils of certain types of dinosaur body structure shows similarities with dragons . It is estimated that dragons are one of the many " living fossils " and witness the history of the extinction of the dinosaurs. If this is true , most likely , parthenogenesis reproductive system is what causes the persistence of this species from extinction . Now , the population of very small dragons , and this species has been listed as one of hundreds of endangered animal species .

KOMODO NATIONAL PARK

National Park is a breeding used to protect an endangered species . One example is the Komodo National Park . In this national park there is a strictly protected species from extinction . Komodo has long been a highly protected animals , it caused little is still alive on this earth . These animals are found only on the islands of Flores , East Nusa Tenggara , Indonesia . While most of the island was inhabited by these animals named Komodo Island . Animals that resemble large lizards classified endangered animal , with a population of less than 4,000 individuals. Then in 1980 has agreed to establish a conservation area in the form of Komodo National Park on the island and some other small islands nearby.

The beginning of the history of the discovery of dragons originated from documentation under the Bogor Zoological Museum conducted by the Dutch with a hunting on the island of Komodo . In 2000 , plans KNP leaders recognized by the Directorate General of Forest Protection and Nature Conservation . The Nature Conservancy ( TNC ) , a private institution that is the biggest environmental community in the United States , and traders from Malaysia , Feisol Hashim , will dominate the Park for 25 years . They want to protect the local environment with the result that tourism will be repaired .
