Krubera cave ( or Cave Voronya , sometimes called Voronja Cave ) is the deepest known cave on Earth . The cave is located in the Arabica Massif region Gagrinsky - Western Caucasus , in the Gagra district of Abkhazia - Georgia .

The depth of the cave entrance that has been explored is approximately 2,191 m ± 20 m ( 7188 feet ± 66 feet ) . Krubera cave located about 2,256 m above sea level in the valley Ortobalagan , which has a perfect shape , through the sub - glacial from Caucasia .
