Tragic, Lion in West Africa Almost Extinct
The existence of lions in West Africa increasingly losing . Research shows that the dwindling number of predators and now on the verge of extinction . Adult lion population in West Africa is currently estimated at less than 250 individuals.

In the past many lions in the region of West Africa , from Nigeria to Senegal . Widespread human settlement and activity make this animal urgency . Lions compete with humans also hunt their traditional prey , such as antelope , gazelle , wildebeest , buffalo and zebra .

Phillip Henschel , a program coordinator who examines lion Panthera survey in West Africa , to mention three of the four lions there will be extinct within five years if no conservation efforts fully . Lack of tourism potential to make countries in West Africa are reluctant to fund conservation . While in the eastern and southern Africa , conservation can run wild because there is tourism which gives a lot of revenue .

" As tourism , the majority of international research institutes are also sucked into eastern and southern Africa to the lions in the western part neglected , " Henschel said , as quoted by LiveScience , January 10, 2014 .
