A year later, Chen gets a master's degree from the University Of California Institute Of Technology.

Chen’s career in the IT world is very impressive. Initially, as quoted from The Globe and Mail, Chen joined to a company called Unisify as a Design Engineer, before being promoted to vice president in the company as well.

Chen returns “jump “to another company, Sybase, in 1997. At the beginning of his career in the company’s database system service, Chen immediately placed as COO and eventually became the CEO and President at one year thereafter.

The ability of the child refugees from Hong Kong actually tested on Sybase. Chen, the leader of the company, has to think hard to bring Syabase who are in a critical period. At that time, Sybase has suffered losses for four consecutive years.

With the talent and ability, which was born July 1, 1955, is capable of removing Sybase from the crisis, from a loss into a profit of hundreds of millions of U.S. dollars, in just one decade alone. Chen also managed to increase the company's market capitalization of 362 million dollars to 5.8 billion U.S. dollars.

In 2010, Sybase was bought by one of the IT giant, SAP. Initially, Chen decided to persist in SAP. However, he decided to leave the company in early 2012 because it does not also get a senior position.
