Know better the CIA
A. A Brief History
Central Intelligence Agency ( CIA ) is an intelligence agency of the United States was originally known as the Coordinator of Information ( CI ). President Franklin D. Roosevelt raised William J Donovan as its chairman. In 1942, CI officially changed its name to the Office of Strategic Services ( OSS ) with his first task to collect and analyze strategic information.
Post World War 2, the OSS was dissolved. President Harry S.Truman later formed the Central Intelligence Group ( CIG ). The institute is in charge of selecting, assessing and reporting the results of the analysis information based on the information that has been processed to the president . Throughout the CIG to function, President Truman was not satisfied with the performance of CIG, even the military and the Federal Bureau of Investigation ( FBI ) was not in line with the CIG. Not long after, the end of President Truman signed the National Security Act of 1947 which marked the official establishment of the CIA.
In 1949, the Central Intelligence Agency Act was passed to supplement the National Security Act of 1947. The Act gives liability to the CIA to coordinate all intelligence activities abroad and correlating , evaluating and disseminating intelligence affecting the national security. In addition, the CIA also carry out other functions and duties related to intelligence as directed by the National Security Council ( NSC ). Intelligence Act is the legal authority that gives the CIA the flexibility to implement fiscal and administrative procedures to protect confidential sources and methods of intelligence leaks.
Entering the era of the cold war, the U.S. gave rise to a balancing power , the CIA was given very broad authority to offset the operational strength of the intelligence services of the Soviet Union, Komitet Gosudarstvennoy Bezopasnosti ( KGB ), which is also the forerunner to the birth of the Soviet intelligence services. Until recently, the CIA still has a strong influence, as evidenced in addition to having close ties with intelligence agencies around the world, the CIA also has the authority to use spy satellites belonging to the National Recon Office , tapping tools belonging to the National Security Agency, Echelon Aircraft Systems eye  - owned U.S. Air Force intelligence tools belonging to members of the intelligence community other, and allowed to use the regular army and special units of U.S. military forces supporting the activities and operations of the CIA.

B. Steeped CIA Performance
The CIA is an independent agency responsible for providing national security intelligence to the United States. CIA intelligence cycle function serves to collect, analyze and distribute intelligence information to U.S. top government officials. CIA task carried out with due regard to the various directives and supervision of the president and the NSC. In addition , the CIA also conduct regular and periodic reporting to the Director of National Intelligence. CIA provide substantive briefings to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs and Armed Services Committee.
The current CIA director is David H Petraeus, appointed since 6 September 2011 and is the 20th CIA director appointed by the President with the approval of the Senate. CIA Director serves as the primary advisor to the president and the National Security Council with regard to foreign intelligence issues that affect the security and stability in the country. In addition, the Director of the CIA, is also responsible for the collection of intelligence through human intelligence, covert action, counter intelligence, liaison with foreign intelligence services and open data collection program for the benefit of the intelligence community and the U.S. government. Tasks other side, is the use of support tools for activities and intelligence operations, correlate and evaluate intelligence related to national security intelligence reports to be used, provide direction and coordination of the national intelligence collection overseas U.S., to perform the functions associated with security intelligence appropriate national presidential directives.
In performing its duties, the Director of the CIA assisted by Deputy Director of the CIA, which is currently held by Michael J. Morell, who assist the Director of the CIA and the task at any time if it is unable to replace the post of the Director of the CIA, such as illness, disability, and so forth. Director of the CIA, also assisted Deputy Associate Director currently held by V. Sue Bromley . Deputy Associate Director, previously handled by the Executive Director, his job was to run the CIA's activities and day-to-day operations. In addition, the completeness of the CIA organization , indicated by several expert staff support areas assigned duties as Director of the CIA: public affairs, human source, innovation mission, congressional affairs, legal issues, information management, internal oversight.
The CIA has a vision of the future into One Body, One Community unmatched in intelligence capabilities, functioning as a team and be fully integrated into the intelligence community. To realize this vision, the CIA has a vision of becoming the nation's first line of defense. CIA trying to achieve what others could not finish and go to a place where others can not go.
Such as intelligence agencies in general, the CIA did some basic tasks and functions, namely: a). Collecting information that reveals the plans , intentions and capabilities of our adversaries and provides the basis for decisions and actions, b ) . Producing timely analysis that provides insight , warning and opportunity to the President and the decision-makers are charged to protect and advance American interests, and c ) . Conducting covert action at the direction of the president to preempt threats or achieve U.S. policy objectives.
In the Central Intelligence Agency Act, the CIA has common tasks entrusted are as follows : a). Advising the National Security Council about issues related to national security, b ). Submit recommendations to the National Security Council on the implementation of the coordination of intelligence activities in each department, agencies and elements in the government, c). Correlate and evaluate intelligence information as well as providing ways to spread properly, and carry out other tasks as directed by the National Security Council from time to time.

C. CIA Organizations System
In the CIA organization is divided into four directorates and several study centers among other things:
1 ) . Directorate of Intelligence ( DI )
The Directorate is responsible for the provision and distribution of sources of intelligence analysis of the overall national security and foreign policy to the president, the cabinet, and U.S. policy makers in a timely, objective and accurate. IN charge of creating reports, briefings, papers against foreign intelligence issues. Intelligence information obtained from a variety of sources and methods, including agent reports, satellite photos, the foreign media, and the sophistication of the sensor. Directorate this is the implementing agency to fulfill the responsibility of the CIA to produce cutting-edge intelligence information at the national level. Director of the Directorate of Intelligence at the moment is Fran P. Moore.
2 ) . Directorate of the National Clandestine Service ( NCS )
Directorate NCS act holds national authorities to coordinate, conduct misdirection, and evaluation of clandestine operations conducted foreign intelligence community. The main task of the directorate NCS is collecting foreign intelligence information as confidential, including using the Human Source Intelligence which aims to support national security and foreign policy interests of the United States. NCS also conducts Counterintelligence and other special activities as requested by the user ( in this case the President of the United States ). Director of the National Clandestine Service is currently closed identity.
3 ) . Directorate of Science and Technology ( DS & T )
Directorate was tasked with providing support to the CIA and the U.S. intelligence community in collecting, processing, and use of intelligence information obtained from various sources, such as satellite imaging resource that is, human -source intelligence, signals and open-source form and shape other intelligence data collected by using secret equipment. Such support includes, among others : research, development, and operation of the filtering capabilities and technical systems to open source and other forms of imaging. This directorate also serves as an office shared services / Serves as a Service of Common Concern, the American intelligence community. The current director is Glenn A. Gaffney.
4 ) . Directorate of Support
Serves to provide full support for the success of CIA operations such as : communications, facilities, cost management, information technology, medicine, logistics and security of personnel, facilities and technology.

Several studies center responsible assist the Director of the CIA :
a) The Center for the Study of Intelligence
Serves to maintain the material and historical documentation of the CIA and served to promote intelligence as a discipline. Currently held by Peter S. Usowski.
b ) The Office of General Council
Function is to provide advice to the Director of the CIA in legal matters related to rules made and serves as the principal advisor to the CIA.
c ) The Office of Inspector General
Serves to promote the principles of financial performance, efficiency, effectiveness, accountability in the management of CIA activities by performing independent audit, inspection, investigation, study programs and operations of the CIA. The Inspector General is currently held by David Buckley.
d ) The Office of Public Affairs
Function is to provide advice to the director of the CIA in carrying out the public policy and the media and to communicate regularly with members of the CIA -related rules that have been made. The Office of Public Affairs as the spearhead of the CIA in their communication to the media, the general public and of members of the CIA itself.
